Ion exchange resins often contain solvents, substances not involved in polymerization and a small amount of low polymer, and may also absorb metal ions such as iron, copper, aluminum, etc. when the resin contacts with acid or other solutions, the above soluble impurities will be transferred into the solution, and the water quality of the effluent will be polluted at the initial stage of use. Therefore, the new resin should be pretreated in the ion exchange equipment before use

1. Pretreatment steps of cation resin: < br / >
First, use saturated salt water, the amount of which is about 3 times of the volume of the resin to be treated, immerse the resin in salt solution for 18-20 hours, then clean the salt water and rinse with clean water, so that the discharged water is not yellow. Secondly, soak the resin in 2% - 4% NaOH solution with the same amount as above for 2-4 hours (or small volume cleaning), and then rinse the resin until the discharged water is nearly neutral. Finally, use 5% HCl solution with the same amount as above, soak for 4-8 hours, drain the acid, and rinse with water until neutral.
2. Pretreatment of anion resin: < br / >
The first step of the treatment method is the same as the first step of cation resin pretreatment, then soak it in 5% HCl for 4-8 hours, then put all the acid solution and wash it with water until neutral; finally, soak it in 2% - 4% NaOH solution for 4-8 hours, put all the alkali solution and wash it with water until neutral.
